How does the computer introduce new opportunities for artistic expression?

Before computers, art relied on a few mediums: painting, drawing, photography, and mixed media. The computer opens up an entirely new medium. It allows artists to omit the limitations of hand-eye coordination and permits the reliance on imagination to create. Programs like photoshop allow the artist to change the aesthetics of a work to fit the image in their mind so it can translate to a visual piece. In this way others can see things the way the artist does without limitations as to how the artist can approach it.

I prefer the hands-on approach to what Prof. Packer previously described as "old-fashioned art." I appreciate this creation more than the creation of graphic design/photoshopped work. I think the talent of some multimedia artists is exceptional. However my views about it are kind of like "the death of hip hop." I don't like when people confuse quality Hip Hop Culture with cheap rap videos. I don't want supporters of art to confuse quality paintings, drawings, video installations or multimedia art with superficial, artificial art (like say, LonelyGirl15 or poorly taken photos.
